We offer two main options for postgraduate study: the Diploma in Child Health and the Master's and PhD research degrees.

Diploma in Child Health (DCH)

The Postgraduate Diploma in Child Health consists of two papers, which can be completed by distance learning.

The full Diploma is open to medical professionals who complete both papers:

  • CHHE 701 Community Child  Health (30 points)
  • CHHE 702 Clinical Attachment in Paediatrics (90 points)

CHHE 701 is available to anyone with a health professional background and is recommended for anyone working with children in the community. Taken on its own, it can be credited towards another qualification, such as a postgraduate certificate, diploma or master's in Nursing.

Master's and PhD research

We have strong, internationally-recognised research in various areas of paediatrics and child health, including: diabetes, sleep, genetics and child mortality. We encourage applications for our Masters' and PhD research opportunities. A medical qualification is not always necessary to undertake postgraduate research in our Department.

Postgraduate research can also be done in conjunction with supervisors in different departments and units of the University, and also with different universities.

Potential research students should consult the relevant research academic in the area of interest.
