Staff Women's Caucus facilitates social and collegial contact among women employed by the University. We provide a forum for discussing common interests, affirming, supporting and strengthening the role of women in the University community.

Our vision is that all women at the University of Otago | Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka feel supported, connected, celebrated, and empowered to lead change—today and for future generations.

Our mission is to build a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive community that champions gender equity, showcases women’s expertise, and advocates for systemic change across the University of Otago | Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka.

Purpose

We are a collective of staff who advocate for equity, celebrate women’s achievements, and build a strong, visible community of support for women across the University of Otago | Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka. We aim to create a more inclusive and equitable university where women thrive, lead, and are recognised for their contributions.

Membership

The Staff Women's Caucus welcomes you to the University of Otago | Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka, and invites you to join us.

Membership is free and open to all who identify as women or non-binary people employed in any capacity within the University or related organisations.

All that you need to do to join Staff Women's Caucus is to ask to be added to our email list. Email your request to staffwomenscaucus@otago.ac.nz

Events and News

The Staff Women's Caucus organises a number of social and collegial events every year.

Committee

The committee organises seminars, forums, social and networking events, etc. We monitor University activities, especially those affecting women staff.

Events are held to allow women to meet, air views on special topical  issues, and inform committee members of wider concerns requiring  comment.
