Kaiāwhina is a sought after, paid, live-in position at the College. They are generally third year to postgraduate students from various degree disciplines. Each year we put potential Kaiāwhina through a rigorous interview process to form a team.

In most cases these students have lived at the College or other Colleges in their first year so they have an empathy with our students and form a critical part of our pastoral care network. Their brief is to look after our student residents on a floor or group of houses and help build a community. Kaiāwhina are generally the first port of call for our residents if they are not feeling well, or have questions or issues on their floors or group of houses.
