The University of Otago Pathway programmes offer a university entrance qualification within two 13-week semesters, called the Foundation Studies Certificate (FSC) for domestic and international students.

Gain the confidence, academic skills and knowledge to succeed in your undergraduate studies at Otago, or at another New Zealand university.

Foundation Studies Certificate subject areas

The main subject study areas for the Foundation Studies Certificate represent Otago’s academic Divisions:

  • Business – February, June and October intakes
  • Health Sciences – February, and June intakes
  • Arts/Humanities – February, June and October intakes
  • Applied Science – February, June and October intakes
  • Life Science – February, June and October intakes

For over 20 years, the Foundation Studies Certificate (FSC) has been transforming the lives of domestic and international students, both on campus in Dunedin – and from 2020 – online from their homes outside of New Zealand.

Whether online or on campus, FSC students enjoy the same high-quality teaching and learning experience, where all students are supported to develop the academic skills and confidence to succeed in their future studies.
