The University of Otago Pathway programme offers a university entrance qualification within two 13-week semesters for domestic and international students. It is called the Foundation Studies Certificate (FSC).

For over 20 years, the Foundation Studies Certificate (FSC) has been transforming the lives of domestic and international students. The main subject study areas for the Foundation Studies Certificate represent Otago’s academic Divisions:
- Business – February, June and October intakes
- Health Sciences – February, and June intakes
- Arts/Humanities – February, June and October intakes
- Science – February, June and October intakes
