Otago Medical School comprises four component schools:

  • Otago Medical School (OMS)
    • Dunedin School of Medicine (DSM)
    • School of Biomedical Sciences (BMS)
    • University of Otago, Christchurch (UOC)
    • University of Otago, Wellington (UOW)

DSM, UOC, and UOW are all clinical medical schools.

After completing Health Sciences First Year (or gaining entry via an alternative pathway), all second- and third-year medical students are taught on the Dunedin campus by BMS and DSM staff.

After that, a third of medical students are taught in each of DSM, UOC, and UOW for the remaining years.

The following names are no longer used:

  • Christchurch School of Medicine
  • Wellington School of Medicine
  • Faculty of Medicine
