The University of Otago College of Education is dedicated to the enhancement of educational practice through high quality teaching, scholarship, research, professional leadership and community service, to benefit children, other learners, educators and the wider community (local, national and international).
For people wishing to be inspiring teachers or wanting to understand the educational influences in our society better, the College of Education offers a wide range of programmes.
Applications to study teacher education
Our teacher education programmes enable you to become a qualified teacher in Early Childhood, Primary, Primary Maori-medium, or Secondary Education.
Applications will open at the beginning of May 2014 for study in 2015 and are requested by the end of August. We do not have a mid-year intake.

University of Otago College of Education/Creative New Zealand Children’s Writer in Residence
Auckland novelist Melinda Szymanik will take up the position of University of Otago College of Education/Creative New Zealand Children’s Writer in Residence in 2014. Melinda plans to develop an historical novel for nine to 13 year olds about the arrival of World War II Polish refugee children in Pahiatua in 1944.
