Our College of Education Invercargill Campus is small and whānau friendly, and has been providing initial teacher education since the 1980s.

A range of teacher education programmes and education support services

The campus delivers a range of teacher education programmes in Early Childhood Primary, and Bicultural Education. Experienced teacher educators endorse a philosophy of collaboration and ethic of care when working with and alongside teacher education students, and mentor/associate teachers in schools and early childhood centres.

Specialised programme in Te Pōkai Mātauranga o te Ao Rua (Primary Bicultural Education)

This programme is only available at the Invercargill campus.  The programme specialises in te ao Māori, enabling graduates to teach in primary, intermediate, bilingual and/or Māori-medium schools (depending on a graduate's ability in te reo Māori).

Elective papers (previously subject studies), education papers and education support services

Selected specialised Elective papers and Education papers are also available to students.

A small dedicated team of Education Support Services facilitators, who work in schools and support teachers in classrooms, are based at the Invercargill campus.
