Undergraduate study
We are pleased to announce our new curriculum starting in 2019. The new curriculum reflects our recent QS ranking of 12th in the world, and number 1 in New Zealand of any department in our discipline. We undertook extensive consultation with stakeholder groups, students, alumni and employers to ensure we have an innovative curriculum, located in our research strengths, that meets new directions in physical education, sport and exercise sciences.
We now offer four majors and four minors:

Postgraduate Study
The School of Physical Education, Sport and Exercise Science is excited to announce a new postgraduate programme which will be offered for the first time in 2019. Five new postgraduate qualifications have been designed to complement the new future-focussed undergraduate programme that the School will also launch at this time.
The new postgraduate options include:
- Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Sport, Exercise and Health
- Postgraduate Diploma Science in Sport, Exercise and Health
- Master of Science in Sport, Exercise and Health
Two other new qualifications on offer include named, coursework programmes in Sport Development and Management.
This is a rapidly evolving field in the sport and recreation sector with many new employment opportunities.
Each of these new qualifications have been designed to appeal to a large range of students including those already employed that are seeking to upskill, international students, as well as NZ-based students looking for more advanced study.
