An exchange is a great way to gain international experience while taking your Otago degree.

We suggest exchanges happen in your second year of study to best fit with the requirements of our Food Science and Consumer Food Science degrees. You will need to plan early and apply in your first year.

Where to start?

What next?

The Otago exchange site has everything you need to know to apply for an exchange.

If you are accepted for the exchange programme, you will still need to confirm your courses with the Food Science Exchange Adviser Professor Phil Bremer to ensure they are a good fit for your degree.

Other universities with Food Science and Technology programmes

Take a look at different university websites to find out more about their courses and university culture. You will need to get in touch with the Food Science Exchange Adviser, Professor Phil Bremer, to confirm a course of study that will work with your degree.

2 + 2 programme

Complete two years of advanced Food Technology at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in Vietnam, plus four semesters of study at Otago and earn a University of Otago Bachelor of Science in Food Science.
