Community engagement

Campus Geosites @ Otago

Interactive exercises based around geologically interesting sites on and near the University of Otago campus and surroundings. The University of Otago campus and surroundings are rich in geological heritage, and a wide range of rock types and geological concepts can be taught and explored by carefully observing building materials, ornamental and landscaping stones, and natural rock outcrops.

Outreach at Otago Geology

We are happy to offer a range of free services to support geoscience in New Zealand. Subject areas include Geology, Earth and Space Science, Physical Geography and Earth Science.

Do you have a school or community group that want to learn about local Dunedin geology? Or maybe you just want to have a look around the Geology Museum and other facilities?

Contact the Outreach Committee: Dr Sophie Briggs, Dr Faye Nelson, Louise Schumacher (Geology Administrator), Natalie-Jane Reid  (Student Representative), and Professor Andrew Gorman (Head of Department).
