Rooms and facilities at Hayward College, Hayward College

Enjoy a welcoming space designed for study, relaxation and spending time with friends. With comfortable surroundings and great facilities, Hayward gives you plenty of room to make yourself at home.

Bedrooms

Hayward offers 176 fully furnished single-student rooms, providing a comfortable and personal space to study and relax. We also have single-gender and alcohol-free areas to help create an environment that suits different needs and preferences.

Please note: Bedrooms range in size from 9m2 to 17.5m2. It's important to note that of the 176 rooms available, we have 14 rooms which are 9m2.

Our domestic staff vacuum rooms and empty rubbish twice a week, helping to keep your space clean and comfortable. You’ll be responsible for managing your own recycling.

Fresh sheets and pillowcases are provided and can be exchanged for clean ones each week.

Bedroom furnishings

Bedrooms come equipped with:

King single bed (including sheets)
Central heating
Wardrobe, shelving, drawer unit, desk, chair, and notice board

Personal fridges

We have a limited number of fridges which residents can rent at a cost of $100 for the year. These are issued on a first come first serve basis.

Kitchenettes

Every floor has a kitchenette for residents to use. Each ktichenette contains:

Shared fridge
Sandwich maker
Microwave
Iron and ironing board

Bathrooms

There are two bathrooms per floor with plenty of showers and toilets for everyone – there is no need to queue. The College also boasts two bathtubs for a relaxing soak.

All floors (with the exception of the ground floor) have disabled access to showers and toilet. There are four accessible rooms with ensuites.

Dining room

Dining at Hayward is family time. A great opportunity to catch up with your friends and enjoy our in-house cuisine.

Our Food Service Manager and qualified kitchen team prepare 3 plentiful healthy meals daily.

Late meals can be ordered through your Te Puna portal under the ‘self service’ tab or speak to one of the kitchen staff or reception in the morning. You can also make your own packed lunch before 10:00am daily.

Common areas

Lounges

Throughout the College there are a number of open common areas for you to hang out with friends socially. Here you can play pool, table tennis, Playstation or Xbox. There are also numerous board games to choose from.

Music room

We have plenty of musical instruments for you to play in our main common room but if you need to get away for some quiet practice we have a secluded music room to help you focus on whatever skills you need to hone.

Study spaces

Every floor at Hayward has a drop in study space. All study spaces are supplied with white boards and pens. These spaces can be booked on special occasions by speaking with senior staff.
