Otago Medical School Foundations Trust

Research support for all DSM staff:

  • who are PBRF eligible, and
  • whose appointment at the Dunedin School of Medicine (previous and future) is at least two consecutive years, and
  • who have confirmed salary for the duration of the project

Research in psychiatric illness, endocrinology, cardiac conditions, cancer, and medical are encouraged since some bequests specifically target these areas.

The James Hume Bequest

Otago Medical Research Foundation 2025

Annual grants 2025 including Otago Community Trust grants 2025.

The Council of the Otago Medical Research Foundation Incorporated (OMRF) invites applications from principal investigators based in the Otago region for financial support of medical research relating to human health or the basic sciences.

Up to $40,000 for projects that are achievable within a one-year time frame.

Freemasons NZ Scholarships in Paediatric and Child Health

These Scholarships are intended to provide support to a scholar whose programme of work or research would lead to a higher degree and whose work is within the field of Paediatrics and Child Health.

To support research clearly linked to specific health outcomes or benefits for the communities of Otago. Funds most available are for fields of cancer, diabetes, and cardiology.

Grants to support research projects led by staff of the Faculty of Medicine – Dunedin:

  • Whose appointment at the Faculty of Medicine – Dunedin includes research FTE, and
  • Who have confirmed salary for at least one year beyond the proposed project end date

Studies in cancer research, general medicine, and cardiac conditions are encouraged since some bequests specifically target these areas.

Projects must be completed in 2026, and requests for funding of $10,000–$55,000 are expected.
